Wir wollen die Größe der Heiligkeit des Tages schildern, er ist furchtbar und
ernst, an ihm wird sich dein Reich erheben und auf Gnade dein Thron gegründet
sein und du auf ihm thronen in Wahrheit.
In Wahrheit, du bist der Richter, der
zurechtweist, der weiss und Zeuge ist, der schreibt, besiegelt, zählt und
berechnet und alles Vergessenen gedenkt, du öffnest das Buch des Gedenkens, von
selbst wird es vorgelesen, die eigene Unterschrift jedes Menschen ist darin, in
das große Schofar wird geblasen und leises Flüstern vernommen, die Engel sind
bestürzt, von Zittern und Beben ergriffen und sprechen:
Das ist der Tag des
Gerichtes, zu prüfen das Heer des Himmels im Gericht. Denn sie sind in deinen Augen nicht lauter, im Gericht, und alle
Geschöpfe der Welt führst du vor dir vorbei wie Lämmer, wie der Hirt seine Herde
prüft, seine Schafe unter seinem Stabe hindurchgehen lässt, so lassest du
vorbeiziehen, zählst und berechnest, prüfst die Seele alles Lebenden, bestimmst
die Grenze jedem Geschöpfe und schreibst ihr Urteil.
Let us teil of the might of this day's holi-ness since it is füll of dread
and awe. On it Thy Kingdom is exalted and Thy throne made firm with grace and in
truth dost Thou sit upon it. It is true that Thou art He who judges and reproves
and knows and witnesses and writes and seals and counts and reckons. Thou dost
remember all things that are forgotten and Thou dost open the book of memories
and it is read out of its own accord and the seal of every man's hand is on it.
Then there is a blast on the great Shofar and a soft and slender sound is heard.
The angels hasten to and fro and are seized with trembling and dread so that they say: "Behold it is
the day of judgment and the host on high is to be considered in judgment' for
they have no merit in Thine eyes in judgment. Then Thou dost cause all who come
into the world to pass before Thee like lambs. Just as a shep-herd Controlling
his herd makes his flock pass beneath his staff, so dost Thou cause to pass,
count, reckon and consider every living soul and Thou dost appoint a limit for
every creature and inscribe their verdict.
